I MMO Technical Conference: The role of Transport Authorities in the urban sustainability.
Oviedo (March 2005)
The creation of the Observatory is an example of institutional cooperation, where necessary local leadership has been respected. Its existence must be seen as an opportunity to strengthen and formalize a policy of sustainable mobility in cities by:
- A flexible system of indicators (observatory).
- The definition of aims in each metropolitan area.
- The promotion of information as a basis for greater public participation.
- Awareness of the influence of transport on the urban environment.
